Chapter Nineteen

"I can't believe you are here," Charles said, gently holding Snow Deer away from him. His gaze moved slowly over her.

Then his eyes locked with hers. "I thought I had lost you," he said, his voice breaking with emotion. "How . . . what . . . changed your mind? You seemed so determined not to leave your people."

"A part of me is still there, always there," Snow Deer said softly. "But I just could not live without you, Charles. My life would never have been complete had I not come to you."

Charles yanked her against his hard body. He held her close. "You know now, don't you, that since you have come to me, I shall never again let you go?" he said huskily, his nose against her cheek, inhaling the sweet fragrance of her skin.

"I will never leave you again," Snow Deer whispered, then placed her hands at his cheeks and brought his mouth to hers. "Kiss me. Hold me. Make love to me," she whispered against his lips.

"The hour is late," Charles said, yet he could not deny the passion that was quickly overwhelming him.

"The hour makes no difference to me," Snow Deer said. "I want you now. Oh, Charles, I need you so much."

"I will marry you soon," he whispered against her lips.

"Yes, soon," Snow Deer whispered back, her voice quivering in her excitement.

She swirled in a storm of passion that shook her innermost senses when he kissed her. His arms held her so close, she felt as though she were an extension of his body.

Twining her arms around his neck, she clung to him when he gripped her waist and slowly led her down onto the blankets beside the campfire, his lips never leaving hers.

She shivered sensually when one of his hands slid up inside her dress and left a trail of fire along her flesh as he moved his fingers slowly upward along her inner thigh.

And when he reached the hot, wet place between her legs, and splayed his hand over it, slowly, gently grinding his hand against her, Snow Deer's breath caught.

Needing more, hungering for it, she reached down and circled her fingers around his hand and led his fingers where she throbbed with need of him. "Please caress me there," she whispered against his lips, her cheeks hot with ecstasy.

Charles leaned slightly away from her and watched her eyes as his fingers swirled on her woman's center. He smiled when he saw how passion-heavy her eyelids became the more he caressed her.

Realizing that he was watching her, Snow Deer smiled and closed her eyes, moaning when he slid a finger up inside her.

As his finger moved in a slow inward and outward motion, her hips gyrated to the rhythm of his movements. Her lips parted; her eyes still closed, she leaned her head back and allowed herself to enjoy being transported to another world. All the apprehensions she had felt earlier were banished from her life forever.

"Snow Deer . . ." Charles said, bringing her out of her pleasurable reverie.
